Dear Fellow Ministers,
I am so thankful for the generational ministry of Matthews UMC! This church has a strong gift of people in each generation, and we get to learn from each other. Far too often, people tend to trend towards churches based on a certain age group. I’ve heard these called “cut flower churches” because they look pretty for a little while, but when they need the roots and strength of others, it is hard to exist. This church is STRONG in ministry to all ages. Thank you for seeing the necessity of all ages being represented.
This Sunday, we will be led in worship by Pastor Corey Milliet, our Director of Age-Level Ministries. She will be preaching on Ephesians 2:7-10. Please read through this scripture as God forms a sermon in us. You can view my weekly video which includes an interview (Peabody Award Caliber) with Pastor Corey. We have English-speaking worship at 8:15, 9:30, and 11 am. We have Spanish-speaking worship at 12:30 pm, and Youth Worship at 6 pm. You are ALWAYS welcome!
I hope you were able to participate in worship in person or online on Sunday. I routinely hear people talk about the quality of music at our church, and Sunday was no exception. The Praise Team and the Sanctuary Choir were their usual amazing selves, and our own Janice Magnum arranged a beautiful song by Mark Miller for the Flute Choir. We are, indeed, blessed by gifted persons!
View and share this link to our 9:30 and 11:00 am streams on YouTube as a way to invite someone to worship.
Each week through August 9, we have persons sharing an “Experience of the Holy Spirit.” This last Sunday, we were blessed to hear Pastor Judi Hunt share about her experience with Disciple Bible Study as we recognized graduates from Disciple I, II, and III.
I look forward to being in ministry with you this week!
In Christ’s Service,
David
