Pastoral & Congregational Care

"Love one another, as I [Jesus] have loved you." (John 15:12)

Part of Christian discipleship is being cared for and caring for others. Matthews UMC has several pastors on staff who provide pastoral care to members. Rev. Bill Roth is our Pastor of Visitation. He is our first contact for hospital visitation and is only designated for 8 hours each week. Pastors Judi, Susan and David, Roldan and Corey are also available to connect with you. No matter the pastor, we are all representing the love of God and the Church.

Scheduling a Pastoral Visit

If you should need a pastoral visit, please call the Church Office at 704-847-6261 and speak with Teressa Clark. If you are going into the hospital and would like us to know, please call. You may think, "The pastors already know." They probably do not. So overcommunicating is welcomed.

If you are in the hospital for outpatient or a brief visit, we will connect with you through a phone call, email, or text. If you have a several days stay, we hope to stop by for a visit.

If an emergency should arise on a weekend, the Church Office phone will direct you to the Pastor on Call.

Everyone is a Minister

The other part of care is congregational. Each of us as members of the church and body of Christ are called to care for one another. As part of our promise as a baptized Christian, YOU are a minister and fully equipped to call a member, visit, or send a card. We give thanks for the Body of Christ caring for all the parts.

Please call our Church Office at 704-847-6261 and if after hours, please follow the prompt for the Pastor on Call.
