Getting “Outside the Box” with Global Impact Missions

Dear Fellow Ministers,

We title this weekly communication “Outside The Box” because my primary call to Christ is to do all I can to get Him “out of the box” in which we so often place Christ. I continue to be inspired by MUMC as a church and the way you seek to offer the love of Christ outside of the box. Thank you!

Perhaps there is no better organizational example of getting outside the box than the Global Impact Missions Ministry. Our church is actively involved in over 25 “partner” missions close by and around the world. The next two Sundays are our Global Impact Celebration when we will highlight ways we can be involved and make a financial commitment to our missions efforts for the year. (Be on the lookout for pledge packets in the mail this week.) There is so much to explain, celebrate, and seek about our mission ministry through Global Impact…be sure to check out the website for all the opportunities & events, especially our Saturday Serve day on February 14! We appreciate our staff members, Amy DeVore and Beth Merchant, for all the work they do to make sure we are organized in our outreach.

In a very unusual happening, we have had to cancel in-person church the last two Sundays because of ice and snow. We thank God for the technology and smart people (NOT me!) who understand how to use it. We even had Holy Communion “online” last week. You may view last week’s service here. Thank you to all who have participated and allowed us to reach out with the love of Christ to any who would want to view.

Our theme scripture the next two weeks is from Philippians 4:6-9. I hope you will read through this text as God forms a sermon in us. Did you know that over 200 people gathered together on January 30, for a night of Bingo, delicious Italian food, and some incredible fun? Everyone always looks forward to one of these great nights hosted by our Age-Level Ministries. Hope to see you at the next one in October 2026!
