Mission Statement
Inclusive Grace is a reconciling Ministry of the Matthews UMC. It is a ministry of radical welcome, rooted in the love of Christ and the sacred worth of every person. We are a visible, affirming, and safe presence for LGBTQIA+ individuals exploring or engaging with the life of Matthews UMC.
We walk alongside LGBTQIA+ members, their families, and loved ones--offering support, resources, and connections. We equip our congregation, ministries, and small groups with tools to grow in understanding, compassion, and inclusive discipleship.
Through Lifelines, we connect those seeking support with others who have walked similar paths. We serve not only within our church walls but extend our care and advocacy to the broader LGBTQIA+ community.
Guided by the voices and wisdom of LGBTQIA+ Advisors and Ally's, we ensure that our ministry reflects the needs, celebrates the gifts, and honors the journeys of those we serve. Together, we are building a church where all are truly seen, heard, and beloved.
Core Values
- Radical Welcome: We embrace all people as beloved children of God, especially those who have been excluded or marginalized.
- Affirmation: We celebrate LGBTQIA+ identities as sacred and essential to the life of the Church.
- Compassionate Presence: We offer support, listening, and companionship to those navigating faith, identity, and belonging.
- Education and Growth: We foster learning and dialogue that deepens understanding and dismantles bias.
- Shared Leadership: We center LGBTQIA+ voices and Ally's in shaping our ministry, ensuring authenticity and accountability.
- Justice in Action: We advocate for equity and inclusion within our church and in the wider world, guided by the Gospel's call to love boldly.
- Joyful Community: We create spaces of celebration, connection, and spiritual nourishment where all can thrive.
Inclusive Grace welcomes, affirms, and celebrates the sacred worth of all persons. We are all beloved children of God.
