The sun is setting as I write these words. It is the close of a Sunday I hope always to remember. Our time together in worship and then the afternoon reception flowed together to create a tapestry of care and richly shared grace that washed over me and my family as an experience too deep for words to describe. Even so, I offer these thoughts of my heart to you and for you.
Our time together over these 21 years has been among God’s most gracious gifts to me. My life has been shared in remarkable ways by your faithful witness of both word and deed. You have modeled Christian community at its best and you continue an ongoing passion to grow in your devotion to Christ.
As I have read your many cards and letters, I am humbled by your kind words and gracious spirit. Your generosity and expressions of care are treasures to me and speak of your great capacity to encourage others in this spiritual journey. Thank you, friends, for sharing your heart and lives with me. Serving with you has been my highest honor, deepest privilege and greatest joy. You are deeply loved.
I pray for your continued joy in a faithful journey with your new Lead Pastor, Dr. Chuck Wilson. You will find in him an able leader, a compassionate spirit, and a visionary passion to partner with you in God-honoring ministry. I am excited for what God already has in mind for this next fruitful season of ministry for Matthews UMC.
May the fullness of God’s blessing come to you, and then with the Holy Spirit’s presence and power, may that blessing move through you into a world so full of need. In His Hope and In His Name, make your journey.
Blessings,
Pastor Ken
