Trauma-Informed Info Session with Dr. Elaine Heath

Being Trauma-Informed with featured Guest Speaker
On Sunday, October 19 we will welcome Dr. Elaine Heath a theologian, author, speaker, retreat leader, former Dean of Duke Divinity School, who currently serves as the Abbess of Spring Forest, a United Methodist monastic community near Hillsborough.

Info Session with Q&A at Noon in The Commons: Dr. Heath will provide a short info session followed by Q&A, about how trauma affects the brain, body, and spirituality, and how we can lovingly neighbor others who are traumatized, in light of that knowledge. Light snacks will be provided. Please register to attend the info session.

Message Focus in Morning Services: The Bible is filled with stories of healing from trauma, but often we do not read them with trauma-informed understanding. Dr. Heath will preach from the story of Peter and Cornelius found in Acts 10, guiding us to see and hear this powerful narrative with a trauma-informed understanding.

Event hosted by our Hope for Minds & Hearts Mental Health Ministry.
